Riverbend Housing Development
The Riverbend Housing Development in Juneau is a $5.7 million dollar complex designed for the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation. This forty-five-unit complex consists of nine different housing structures and a multi-purpose building, grouped into three separate courtyards. The project is located on undeveloped property along the Mendenhall River. A courtyard scheme is used to reduce the scale of the project and provide a comfortable atmosphere. Each courtyard contains a private covered entrance and parking, with planters in front of each unit. Public spaces and recreational areas are developed along the most desirable riverfront portions of the property, with a rear greenbelt retained as a buffer against a busy street.
