Cedar Park Housing

-Award of Merit in Housing and Community Development

This project involved the reconstruction of low-income housing on the site of a 1950s barracks-style housing project. The new design entirely re-develops the site, pushing housing to the perimeter, and reserving the center site portions for parking and common use facilities. Fifty new units were created on the four-acre site. The project emulates European hill-town models, capitalizing on the slope, view, and central shared spaces. The European example similarly inspired the variety in the building forms- to individualize units, and keep the volume of the buildings from becoming oppressive. This project recieved an award from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment.
